I was at home on the night of my first wedding anniversary, I experienced a weird “episode” – feeling out of it, headache and pain behind my left eye. Thought it was a migraine. My wife did a quick search on the Internet that revealed it could be the symptoms of a stroke, but both of us dismissed it thinking I’m too young to have a stroke. Two days later the symptoms returned with a vengeance and I called 911.

After three days at University Hospital, I was transferred to Drake. Friends and family told us Drake was the place to be for stroke, because it’s the best. Everyone at Drake was so positive all the time and helpful. I spent three weeks as an inpatient and 10 months as an outpatient. Today, I’m back to work, playing soccer and enjoying my boat.
